Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Optical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team focused on the development and refinement of nonlinear optical structures and photonic devices. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in optics and photonics, and a passion for applying their expertise to real-world challenges in quantum technologies and advanced sensing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and fabricate nonlinear optical components including waveguides and bulk materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop custom solutions for research and commercial applications.
  • Conduct experimental validation and performance testing of photonic devices.
  • Support the integration of optical components into larger systems for quantum information, remote sensing, and atomic science applications.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of design processes, test results, and project milestones.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to innovation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related field (PhD preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with nonlinear optics, waveguide design, and laser systems.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as COMSOL, Lumerical, or similar.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom fabrication techniques and optical characterization methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
