SUMMARY:
Our client, a renowned and prestigious global law firm, is actively seeking a senior attorney to join its Nonprofit Organizations practice. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of legal experience in private practice advising nonprofit organizations on the tax, corporate, and charitable trust issues that are unique to tax-exempt and nonprofit organizations. Additionally, applications will be considered from attorneys with a demonstrated interest in advising nonprofit organizations and who have experience in political law, corporate or tax law, including corporate and partnership tax, employee benefits, or trusts and estates. NOTE: This is a Hybrid opportunity with 3 Days working onsite.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent various private & community foundations, nonprofit hospitals & healthcare providers, cultural & arts organizations, colleges & other educational institutions, religious organizations, trade associations, and a wide variety of other nonprofit organizations.
- Advising on IRS tax-exempt regulations, including unrelated business income tax (UBIT), public charity status, private foundation rules, and state charitable solicitation laws.
- Drafting bylaws, conflict of interest policies, and restructuring documents.
- Function in a senior role to serve & manage the firms nonprofit clients locally, while also having the opportunity to work with colleagues and clients from across the nation.
- Perform additional duties & tasks assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have 5+ years of legal experience in private practice advising nonprofit organizations on tax, corporate, and charitable trust issues that are unique to tax-exempt and nonprofit organizations.
- JD (Juris Doctor) Degree from an Accredited Law School
- Active Minnesota Bar Membership in Good Standing
- Excellent Written and Oral Communication skills, attention to detail, and strong academic credentials are also required.
