Job description
We are currently recruiting for a Legal Cashier to join our accounts team on a full-time basis at Brighton.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a cashiering environment within a law firm. We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail who is organised and methodical with a can-do attitude, along with the ability to work quickly and efficiently to ensure deadlines are met. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team.
KEY TASKS
Ensuring that office, client and nominal account ledgers are updated daily.
Checking and data entry of private client, Legal Aid and Legal Help bills.
Processing payments on account of legal aid fees and disbursements.
Raising cheques in accordance with fee earners or support staff instructions.
Taking debit & credit card payments and processing paperwork for same.
Banking including reconciliation in accordance with SRA accounts rules.
Processing incoming and outgoing electronic payments in a timely manner and maintaining accurate records and notifications.
Maintenance of the firm’s petty cash system.
Providing assistance to and cover for other members of the Cashiers team.
Ensuring that transactions and processes comply with the SRA Accounts Rules, HMRC regulations and other relevant legislation and guidance.
KEY SKILLS – ESSENTIAL
Numerate and literate.
Ability to work accurately in accordance with the requirements of the team.
Ability to deal with enquiries in a customer-friendly and effective manner.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
Ability to work on own initiative.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Good IT skills.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the Solicitors accounts rules.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
