Assistant Accounting Manager

Our client is seeking an Assistant Accounting Manager to support the delivery of high-quality financial services to a diverse portfolio of local and international clients. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys client interaction, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring work meets the highest technical and regulatory standards.

What youll be doing

  • Support the Accounting Manager in managing client relationships and delivering accurate, timely accounting services.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports in line with GAAP, IFRS, and GASPME standards.
  • Supervise, coach, and review the work of junior accountants, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee bookkeeping, VAT returns, and payroll prepared by the team.
  • Assist with client onboarding and integration of financial records into internal systems.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end closings, account reconciliations, and journal postings.
  • Liaise with external auditors and support the audit process from start to finish.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and tax obligations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen efficiency and controls.
  • Support the use and integrity of accounting software and reporting systems.

What were looking for

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. ACCA partly or fully qualified preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years of accounting experience, ideally within corporate services or client-facing environments. Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff is an advantage.
  • Technical skills:
    • Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and GASPME.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and advanced MS Excel.
  • Soft skills:
    • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
    • Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
    • Clear communicator with a client-first approach.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
    • Adaptability in handling changing priorities and deadlines.
