Fleet & Garage Manager

About the Role

On behalf of our client, a leading fleet operator supporting both Delivery and Taxi services, R77 Elite Talent is assisting in the recruitment of an experienced and driven Fleet & Garage Manager. This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational efficiency, compliance, and reliability of the fleet, while leading a team of mechanics and working closely with drivers to uphold service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Management & Compliance

  • Develop and implement strategies to maximise fleet availability and reduce operational costs
  • Oversee routine servicing, inspections, and emergency repairs to minimise vehicle downtime
  • Ensure all vehicles are fully compliant with Transport Malta regulations, including roadworthiness tests, licensing, and insurance

Driver Oversight & Performance

  • Coordinate driver scheduling and ensure adherence to assigned routes and service levels
  • Monitor driver conduct and performance, enforcing company policies and road safety standards
  • Work with drivers to resolve issues and promote safe, efficient driving behaviour

Garage Operations & Technical Oversight

  • Lead the daily operations of the in-house garage team, including mechanics and support staff
  • Ensure efficient diagnosis and timely repair of mechanical issues
  • Oversee inventory levels, spare parts management, and garage safety procedures

Operational Efficiency & Budget Control

  • Track and control fleet-related expenses including fuel, maintenance, and repair costs
  • Negotiate contracts with service providers, workshops, parts suppliers, and insurers
  • Maintain accurate fleet documentation and generate regular reports for senior management

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide hands-on leadership, performance reviews, and skills development for the garage team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with dispatch, logistics, and finance to support business goals
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism, and accountability across the team

Requirements & Skills

  • Proven experience in fleet, garage, or operations management within the transport or logistics sector
  • Strong leadership and organisational capabilities with a proactive problem-solving approach
  • Solid understanding of vehicle maintenance schedules, diagnostics, and repair procedures
  • Confident in using Microsoft Office tools and basic fleet management software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across departments
  • Data-driven decision-maker with strong attention to cost control and process optimisation
