The Company

The company is part of a high-profile joint venture comprising global and local infrastructure leaders. Backed by one of largest Construction group globally and NZ-based partners, the consortium is bidding for a 25km public-private partnership (PPP) highway project north of Auckland. The project involves a 7-year construction timeline and a 25-year maintenance period. Their Auckland CBD tender office is mobilising now, and they are assembling a best-in-class technical team to deliver a winning bid on one of New Zealands most ambitious infrastructure undertakings.


The Role

This is a strategic technical interface role embedded in the tender team. As Geotechnical Engineer, youll coordinate design inputs between the Design JV and the Construction JV to ensure alignment with construction methodologies and tender strategies. You willl review and influence design deliverables, embed innovative solutions, and ensure constructability and compliance with tender requirements. Your focus will span both earthworks and tunnel geotech scope, with direct input into risk assessments, value engineering, and bid documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between DJV and CJV for all geotechnical matters during the tender
  • Review and comment on design deliverables for constructability and compliance
  • Integrate overseas best practices and innovative techniques into the geotechnical design
  • Ensure M&O and temporary works considerations are factored into designs
  • Support value engineering, risk mitigation, and preparation of tender documentation
  • Contribute to Safety in Design and Environment in Design processes
  • Maintain clear records and design coordination reporting

  • Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience on major infrastructure projects (PPP or highways preferred)
  • Solid tunnel and earthworks geotechnical experience (12 tunnel projects desirable)
  • Proven background in design coordination or tender phase technical roles
  • Strong understanding of NZ ground conditions and local construction methods a plus
  • Effective communicator able to manage multiple technical stakeholders
  • NZ work rights required (no relocation offered due to project urgency)
