The Company

The company is part of a high-profile joint venture comprising global and local infrastructure leaders. Backed by one of largest Construction group globally and NZ-based partners, the consortium is bidding for a 25km public-private partnership (PPP) highway project north of Auckland. The project involves a 7-year construction timeline and a 25-year maintenance period. Their Auckland CBD tender office is mobilising now, and they are assembling a best-in-class technical team to deliver a winning bid on one of New Zealand's most ambitious infrastructure undertakings.

The Role

Based in Auckland at the tender office, this is a key interface role during the bid phase. You'll be the linchpin between the Design Joint Venture (DJV) and Construction JV (CJV), ensuring the seamless integration of design development with construction methodologies, tender strategy, and operational goals. You will contribute to technical decision-making, design reviews, risk management, and innovation sourcing all under tight deadlines typical of a competitive PPP tender environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between design and construction teams to ensure alignment of deliverables with construction sequencing, methodologies, and innovations
  • Coordinate design input meetings, manage action logs, and ensure timely delivery of design packages for tender submission
  • Review and provide feedback on design documents to verify constructability, safety in design, and compliance with tender specs
  • Integrate temporary works and maintenance considerations into permanent design solutions
  • Lead the identification of design risks and opportunities, propose mitigation measures, and contribute to value engineering initiatives
  • Support the preparation of technical appendices, clarifications, and responses to RFIs during the tender process
  • Promote cross-disciplinary collaboration, integrating environmental and sustainability objectives into the design
  • Maintain up-to-date records of decisions, assumptions, and progress to inform reporting to senior stakeholders


    • Requirements

  • Engineering degree (civil or related discipline)
  • 10+ years' experience on major infrastructure or highway projects, ideally within PPP or D&C frameworks
  • Strong background in technical interface roles or design coordination
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and reporting skills
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-stakes tender environments
