About the job Case Manager
We are seeking an intellectually curious, highly empathetic Legal Case Manager to serve as the vital link between our legal strategy and our clients. This is not a "clerical" role; we are looking for a thinker—someone who can anticipate the needs of a case, navigate complex emotional landscapes, and manage the intricate details of property and tenants' rights litigation.
The ideal candidate bridges the gap between high-level legal work and human-centric service, ensuring every client feels heard while every file remains trial-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Case Lifecycle Management: Own the day-to-day operations of your case files within Clio. You will be responsible for ensuring all deadlines, discovery timelines, and medical/property records are proactively managed, not just tracked.
- Empathetic Client Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients facing housing or property crises. You must be able to translate complex legal status updates into clear, supportive English, maintaining trust and calm throughout the litigation process.
- Critical Thinking & Fact Investigation: Actively participate in the "discovery" of a case. This involves identifying missing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and connecting the dots between a client's story and the legal requirements of the niche.
- Communications Engine: Manage a high volume of professional correspondence via Outlook.
- Trial & Hearing Preparation: Support the attorneys by organizing exhibits and preparing client testimony. You are the "anchor" that ensures the attorney has everything they need to win when they step into the courtroom.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Language & Communication: Professional-level mastery of English (Written & Spoken). You must be able to draft sophisticated correspondence and communicate with authority and empathy.
- Legal Software: Proficiency in Clio (Manage/Grow) is highly preferred. You should be comfortable navigating cloud-based practice management and document automation.
- Industry Experience: Direct experience in Tenants' Rights or Property Litigation is a major plus. If no niche experience, a background in Personal Injury (PI) is a must. We value the high-stakes, client-intensive nature of PI work.
- Digital Proficiency: Expert-level use of the Microsoft Outlook/Office suite.
Candidate Profile
You possess the emotional intelligence to handle stressed clients with grace and the mental acuity to handle complex legal files without losing the details. The ideal candidate is an "Intellectual Self-Starter." You don't just check boxes; you ask "why" and look for ways to make the case stronger. You are organized, tech-savvy, and obsessed with the "story" of the case.
Core Performance Metrics
- Case Momentum: Efficiency in moving files through the litigation pipeline and hitting all Clio-tracked deadlines.
- Client Satisfaction: Measured by client feedback and the "calmness" of the caseload (minimizing reactive "emergency" calls).
- File Integrity: The accuracy and completeness of digital files, ensuring they are ready for attorney review or trial at any moment.
