Immigration Legal Assistant
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Immigration Legal Assistant to support attorneys and clients throughout the immigration process. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, communicates effectively with clients, and has a strong willingness to learn and help wherever needed.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to understand immigration terminology and accurately prepare legal forms and supporting documentation under attorney supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Client Interaction
- Gather relevant information from clients and help them understand office protocols and next steps following attorney consultations
- Assist clients in preparing forms and collecting required documentation
- Provide professional, empathetic communication throughout the case process
Document Preparation
- Prepare and file petitions, motions, applications, and other immigration-related legal documents under attorney direction
- Support matters related to visas, citizenship petitions, asylum cases, and deportation defense
- Ensure forms are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner
- Develop a strong understanding of immigration terminology, procedures, and legal forms
Research
- Conduct research on country conditions and other immigration-related matters as assigned by attorneys
- Assist with gathering supporting evidence and documentation for cases
Case Management
- Maintain organized and up-to-date client files and case records
- Monitor deadlines, case progress, and pending matters
- Identify workflow or system issues and collaborate with team members to improve processes
Communication & Translation
- Serve as a liaison between attorneys and clients by providing updates and requesting additional information as needed
- Interpret during consultations and translate documents for clients with language barriers when applicable

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in immigration law or legal support is a plus
- Bilingual skills strongly preferred
- Experience with legal forms, case management systems, or document preparation preferred
