About the Role
A growing engineering firm is seeking an Instrumentation Field Technician to support automation and control projects across a variety of client sites. This is a hands-on, field-based position critical to successful project delivery and client satisfaction. You will be the technical face of the project, responsible for the startup, calibration, and troubleshooting of a wide range of instrumentation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation Setup & Calibration:
Work with flow, pressure, temperature, position, vibration, and current transmitters, as well as analyzers including pH, chlorine, turbidity, conductivity, fluoride, and more. -
Electrical & PLC Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve issues related to 480VAC motor control systems, PLC equipment, and relay logic. -
System Modifications:
Perform mechanical and electrical modifications to equipment in the field as required. -
Drawings & Documentation:
Interpret and update Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Control Loop, and Control Panel drawings to reflect as-built conditions. -
Networking & Computer Systems:
Install and commission networking and computer equipment used in control systems. -
Client Interaction & Administration:
Maintain a professional presence at client sites, complete required documentation, and ensure communication is clear and consistent.
Qualifications

Technical associate degree or equivalent vocational training preferred.

Minimum of 2 years experience with:

Instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting

PLC and motor control systems
-
Reading P&IDs and system wiring diagrams

Field equipment modifications (mechanical and electrical)

Networking and computer system setups

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access).

Valid drivers license and ability to travel locally to client sites.

Ability to work in physically demanding environments (heights, confined spaces, temperature extremes, industrial hazards).
