About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Agricultural Consultant on behalf of our client in Princetown, Victoria, a stunning location along the Great Ocean Road. The successful candidate will provide professional advice and tailored solutions to support both crop and livestock production systems, with a focus on improving efficiency, productivity, and sustainability across local farming operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess soil quality, crop performance, pastures, and livestock systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide technical advice on dairy and beef herd management, livestock nutrition, breeding programs, and grazing systems.
- Develop and implement agricultural management plans to increase productivity and profitability.
- Advise on sustainable farming practices, including irrigation, fertilisation, animal health, and welfare.
- Conduct field assessments, data analysis, and research trials to support evidence-based recommendations.
- Provide integrated pest, weed, and disease management strategies.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, livestock production records, and farm management documentation.
- Assist clients in adopting new technologies and environmentally sustainable practices.
- Provide training and guidance to farmers, farm managers, and agricultural workers.
- Liaise with suppliers, industry bodies, and government agencies on behalf of clients.
Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelors degree or higher in Agricultural Science, Animal Science, Agronomy, or a related discipline (mandatory).
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in agricultural consulting, agronomy, or livestock advisory services.
- Strong knowledge of both crop and livestock production systems, including soil management and sustainable agriculture.
- Proven ability to analyse data and develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with farm teams.
- Current Australian drivers licence (or ability to obtain).
