About the job Senior IT Support Engineer (Helpdesk/Field based)

Summary of duties:

  • Technical support helpdesk (east Belfast office/customer premises/from home)
  • This is the priority to ensure all support tickets are closed as quickly as possible to the satisfaction of the customer within the SLA
  • On site call outs only where absolutely required and approved (by Line Manager & customer)
  • Improve/create customer documentation
  • Proactive preventative maintenance on customer networks
  • Identify opportunities with existing customers for additional services/equipment/consultancy
  • Promote the Precept brand as much as possible
  • Online (social media/email) marketing/telesales generate sales leads Attend pre sales meetings Attend customer review meetings
  • Become a subject matter expert on Precept services Keep abreast of new technology/solutions/methods and make suggestions to improve Precepts approach

Systems/technology in use:

  • Windows server & Small Business Server MS Exchange server
  • Cloud Hosted Microsoft Exchange Microsoft Office 365
  • Networks and Cloud managed firewalls
  • Antivirus - BitDefender/Trend AV/Avast/AVG Cloudcare, Trend, Symantec Remote Access Utilities Logmein.com, Teamviewer, MS Remote Desktop
  • Precepts own in house systems based onLinux, DRBD, Opensense. TakeControl, think Backup, think MailGuard, thinkSMS, webhosting (ispconfig)
  • Desirable technology experience Cisco and major firewall experience

Desirable skills:

1. VMware and equivalent
2. Linux experience
3. Hardware maintenance
4. Web development using Wordpress or Wix

Preferred (but not required) experience:

IT Helpdesk Engineer: 1 year

Schedule: 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday, Full time, On site

Supplemental pay types: Performance bonus

Ability to commute/relocate: Belfast: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education: Diploma of Higher Education (required)

Experience: IT support: 5 years (required)
