About the Job:

We are looking for an experienced Payment Variance Lead to join our client's team and oversee the operations of Patient Account Representatives. In this role, you will ensure accurate management of accounts receivable, resolve payment variances, and maintain operational excellence. You will act as a leader and mentor to your team, providing guidance, performance feedback, and training to drive results. This role requires strong supervisory skills, healthcare A/R expertise, and the ability to foster a motivated, high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead Patient Account Representatives, including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and monitoring daily performance.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work while appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Review and respond to communications from staff, management, and facilities; complete accounts referred to the supervisory desk.
  • Conduct quality reviews of staff work and ensure accounts are properly adjudicated; monitor cash and aging reports.
  • Facilitate identification and resolution of payment delays; escalate unresolved issues to management.
  • Approve daily adjustments and assist staff in resolving claims; communicate payor trends and issues to appropriate parties.
  • Maintain desk inventories and ensure no work-list backlogs occur.
  • Train, develop, and motivate subordinates to enhance skills, knowledge, and engagement.
  • Conduct meetings, provide consistent performance feedback, and complete mid-year and year-end performance reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field.
  • Experienced supervisor with proven expertise in US healthcare accounts receivable management.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare A/R and patient financial services operations, including inpatient/outpatient managed care and commercial payors.
  • Understanding of Medicare regulations, compliance, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to train, coach, and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and precision.
  • Can start immediately, if needed.
