Diamond Driller

Reporting to the Foreman, the Driller is responsible for setting up and operating drilling equipment in a safe and efficient manner to maximize core recovery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with the Foreman and Geologist on a daily basis to ensure that they are able to meet all of the drilling requirements each shift.
  • Safely operates drilling equipment and rolling stock according to company policy and procedure. Is a Safety Leader at the drill and provides ongoing guidance, mentoring and training to Drillers Helper. 
  • Regularly inspects the drill rods for damage and thread wear and removes damaged or worn rods from use and informs the Foreman when this takes place.
  • Uses directional drilling tools and techniques as directed by the Foreman.
  • Takes hole orientation tests at predetermined intervals and submits tests to the Geologists.
  • Safely moves the drill and drilling equipment from one setup or site to another. Sets up drill and other related equipment.
  • Must be prepared and available to travel across Canada frequently for rotations at remote exploration and mine sites. Up to 6-7 rotations per year.

 Qualifications: (experience needed and education)

  • One year of experience in the Diamond Drilling industry as a Diamond Driller.

  • Experience in both surface and underground diamond drilling operations is an asset. 

  • Must have a valid Drivers Licence and must provide a current Drivers Abstract annually.

  • Must maintain a clear Criminal Record Check (site specific requirement).

Salary: $35.00 - 40.00 / Hour

Bonus: 4% vacation pay and meter-based bonus on each cheque.

Job Type: Full-time permanent, 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off is typical during the summer season. 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off schedule may be utilized on most sites during shoulder seasons.

 Language: Intermediate level of oral and written English is mandatory

Job Location: Smithers, BC is head office and where you will be based.  Most of the work is in Northern British Columbia, but they have contracts in Northern Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario.  Field employees can live anywhere in Canada. Hy-Tech arranges and pays for transportation to the worksite.



Package Details

Salary: $35.00 - 40.00 / Hour
