Position: Asst./ Legal Counsel - Personal Data Protection and Privacy

Overview:

We are seeking an Asst./ Legal Counsel to join the in-house high tech. global firm. This position will specialize towards the internal/ customers' personal data protection activities, International data transfers, processing and privacy etc. The local legal team is in size of 20 now.

As the privacy professional, will be responsible for providing legal guidance and supporting the organizatioins's data protection efforts, with aspects of personal data protection and privacy, cross-border data transfer, sharing/ storage, operational requirements, client confidentiality, regional (e.g: US/ EU) new law implementation, and practical guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on all legal matters related to personal data protection and privacy, including but not limited to data center data storage, operational requirements, and practical guidance across its entire lifecycle
• Monitor and analyze changes in regional data protection and privacy laws, the region regulations (HK, Eurpoe, UK, United States, Singapore, Korea, Japan, and etc.) and provide proactive recommendations (e.g: European compliance)
• Provide legal support and guidance to internal teams on data protection and privacy matters, including contract reviews, and data sharing /data processing agreements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data protection and privacy considerations. Monitoring compliance, managing internal data protection activities, and training data processing are incorporated into all business processes and initiatives.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy laws and regulations.
  
• Identify potential risks and areas for improvement in data protection and privacy practices.
• Manage and oversee any data protection and privacy-related litigation or investigations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited law school, with an active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law in the field of data protection and privacy.
• Good knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, CIPM, CIPP/E and other data protection and privacy laws is an advantage
• Experience advising on data storage/protection, operational requirements, and practical guidance, preferably in a corporate or in-house environment.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Less expereince will be considered as Privancy Specialist / Asst. Manager
