Physical Therapy Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA will provide rehabilitative care to patients to help improve mobility, relieve pain, and restore physical function in the home or clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Instruct patients in therapeutic exercises, mobility techniques, and proper use of assistive devices.
  • Observe and document patient progress, reporting changes and concerns to the supervising PT.
  • Provide hands-on support to patients to ensure safe and effective execution of prescribed therapies.
  • Assist in patient education regarding therapeutic goals and home exercise programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and agency standards.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Support patient safety and adhere to infection control protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current state licensure/certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation (if in home health).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and work under supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in home health, outpatient, or skilled nursing settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel may be required for home health settings.
  • May involve lifting and assisting patients during therapy sessions.
  • Flexible schedule based on patient and facility needs.
