Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA will provide rehabilitative care to patients to help improve mobility, relieve pain, and restore physical function in the home or clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Instruct patients in therapeutic exercises, mobility techniques, and proper use of assistive devices.
- Observe and document patient progress, reporting changes and concerns to the supervising PT.
- Provide hands-on support to patients to ensure safe and effective execution of prescribed therapies.
- Assist in patient education regarding therapeutic goals and home exercise programs.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and agency standards.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Support patient safety and adhere to infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current state licensure/certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation (if in home health).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and work under supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in home health, outpatient, or skilled nursing settings.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Bilingual a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Travel may be required for home health settings.
- May involve lifting and assisting patients during therapy sessions.
- Flexible schedule based on patient and facility needs.
