Hours: Quarter-Time (20 - 25 hour per week)
Position Overview
The Social Media Content Creator AmeriCorps Member will support the organizations digital presence by creating, publishing, and managing engaging content across all major platforms. This member will help tell the story of our mission, capture moments from community programs, and strengthen our connection with youth, families, and supporters. The role offers hands-on experience in digital marketing, media production, and nonprofit communications.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Digital Communications
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging content for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
- Capture and edit videos, photos, and reels from programs, events, workshops, and community interactions.
- Maintain a consistent brand style and voice that aligns with organizational values.
- Monitor social media analytics to refine content strategy.
- Collaborate with staff to highlight stories, impact, and upcoming events.
- Assist with email newsletters, website content updates, and digital outreach materials.
Organizational & Program Support
- Assist with event setup, media capture, and documentation.
- Participate in team meetings, AmeriCorps training, and professional development sessions.
- Support youth programs and community engagement activities as needed.
Training & Support
- Onboarding Training: Includes AmeriCorps compliance, agency policies, and program-specific procedures.
- Tools Training: Instruction on Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive) for data tracking and reporting.
- Ongoing Support: Regular check-ins with a dedicated supervisor and access to management for guidance.
Resources Provided
- On-site workstation with computer, reliable internet, and access to Google Workspace.
- Designated workspace for all service activities (no remote service allowed).
- Written guides, templates, and shared digital folders for documentation and reporting.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in social media, digital storytelling, and content creation.
- Basic knowledge of platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
- Skills in video editing, photography, or graphic design are a plus (e.g., CapCut, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Creative thinker with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Comfortable engaging with youth and community members during content capture.
- No prior professional experience required. Willingness to learn is key!
