Position Type: Quarter-Time / AmeriCorps Capacity-Building Member

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Position Purpose

The Capacity-Building Coordinator plays a vital role in strengthening CMPCs internal systems and external reach. This position balances direct client engagement with high-level organizational development. The goal is to improve the efficiency of food distribution, enhance the volunteer experience, and ensure that every family entering the Market is met with a seamless, dignified process from intake to checkout.

Core Responsibilities

1. Client Intake & System Innovation

  • Intake Management: Oversee the daily client intake process, ensuring all families are greeted and processed accurately.
  • Kiosk Implementation: Assist in the coordination of the new automated check-in kiosk; assist shoppers with the transition, troubleshoot user issues, and gather feedback for system refinement.
  • Communication Hub: Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries. Respond to questions via phone, email, and social media with clarity and empathy.
  • Workflow Integration: Act as the "relay" between intake personnel, shopping floor staff, and warehouse teams to ensure client flow matches real-time inventory and capacity.

2. Volunteer Management & Experience (AmeriCorps Capacity-Building)

  • System Development: Help develop and maintain an effective volunteer management system to track hours, skills, and availability.
  • Group Project Facilitation: Create a welcoming, organized, and high-energy environment for visiting volunteer groups; oversee project setup, provide clear task instructions, and maintain active engagement with groups to ensure successful project completion.
  • Diversity & Outreach: Conduct outreach to diverse community groups to ensure CMPCs volunteer base reflects the breadth of the community we serve.

3. Organizational Infrastructure & Outreach

  • Operational Efficiency: Develop and refine organizational systems to improve the speed and effectiveness of food delivery.
  • Program Expansion: Assist in the development of new services (e.g., Mobile Market or targeted senior interventions) to reach isolated populations.

Qualifications

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to navigate sensitive conversations with families in crisis.
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in social media management, basic database entry, and a willingness to master the new kiosk/scheduling software.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to "think on your feet" to resolve bottlenecks in client flow or volunteer scheduling.
  • Mission-Driven: A deep commitment to food equity and the belief that no home should be hungry.

AmeriCorps Grant Compliance

This position is supported by AmeriCorps and is strictly limited to capacity-building activities. The member will not engage in prohibited activities such as political lobbying or religious proselytization during service hours. All activities will align with CMPCs approved grant application to ensure sustainable growth for the organization.
