REK is building the worlds first VR-controlled humanoid robot fighting league a fusion of robotics, gaming, and live entertainment. Following the sold-out success of REK0, were scaling our global presence and creating REK.tv, the official hub for our sport.

REK.tv will serve as our digital home where fans watch fights, buy merch, explore our robots, and follow upcoming events around the world. Were looking for a Web Developer who can help us bring this vision to life through bold design, smooth interactivity, and scalable tech.

The Role

As REKs Contract Web Developer, you'll work closely with our product and creative teams to build REK.tv, a high-impact, high-performance site that combines cinematic presentation with real-time data and content updates.

Youll lead frontend development and manage integrations across our ecosystem including livestreams, event pages, our merch store, and our careers portal.

Responsibilities

• Build and Deploy REK.tv: Implement the next-generation REK.tv website with clean, performant code optimized for video and dynamic visuals.
• Integrate Media & Streaming: Embed and optimize live and on-demand video using modern frameworks and APIs.
• Dynamic Animations: Create visually striking transitions, hover effects, and responsive motion using frameworks like Framer Motion and Three.js.
• Frontend Development: Own the visual layer from pixel-perfect UI implementation to smooth interactions across devices.
• Backend Integration: Connect the frontend to backend systems, CMS, or APIs as needed (Node.js, Next.js, Firebase, or similar).
• E-commerce & Careers Integration: Seamlessly connect our Stripe merch store and careers portal into the site.
• Performance & SEO: Optimize for speed, accessibility, and SEO without sacrificing aesthetics.
• Collaboration: Work closely with design, product, and leadership to translate vision into production-ready code.

Ideal Skills & Experience

• 4+ years professional web development experience.
• Strong proficiency with React / Next.js / TypeScript (or Framer for rapid prototyping).
• Experience implementing advanced frontend effects (Framer Motion, GSAP, WebGL, Lottie, Three.js, etc.).
• Solid understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and performance tuning.
• Experience integrating APIs and third-party systems (e.g., Stripe, Greenhouse/Workable, YouTube/Twitch embeds, Airtable, etc.).
• Familiarity with hosting & deployment on Vercel, Netlify, or AWS.
• Strong eye for design and motion this site should feel like a trailer.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with limited specs and high creative freedom.

Bonus Points

• Experience building sites for esports, entertainment, or tech brands.
• Experience with 3D or holographic web elements (Three.js, Spline, etc.).
• Familiarity with Framer (we currently use it for design and prototype hosting).
• Prior collaboration with creative teams or marketing launches.
