About the Role

As part of our Owners Representative team, the Clerk of the Works will serve as the on-site representative responsible for monitoring construction activities, ensuring compliance with contract documents, and safeguarding the Owners interests throughout the project lifecycle. This individual will act as the eyes and ears of the Owner on the job site, providing detailed oversight, accurate reporting, and proactive communication to keep projects on track, on budget, and of the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full-time, on-site observation of construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Monitor construction progress, workmanship, materials, and schedules, identifying and reporting any deviations or concerns.
  • Maintain detailed daily reports including labor and equipment counts, weather conditions, work performed, and potential issues.
  • Review and document contractor adherence to safety standards, quality control, and project timelines.
  • Observe and report on materials delivered and stored on-site to verify compliance with approved submittals.
  • Participate in project meetings, progress inspections, and punch list reviews as directed by the Owners Rep team.
  • Assist in reviewing change orders, RFIs, and submittals by providing field-based insight.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Owner, Project Manager, Architect/Engineer, and Contractor to facilitate clear communication and issue resolution.
  • Support closeout activities including final inspections, as-built documentation review, and warranty verification.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 510 years of construction experience in a field oversight or superintendent role; prior Clerk of the Works or Owners Rep experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • OSHA certification or strong knowledge of site safety practices preferred.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to foster positive working relationships among all project stakeholders.
