Role: Senior US Tax Preparer
Compensation: Competitive Basic Salary
Benefits: HMO plus 2 Free Dependents, P1,500 Rice Allowance, Night Differential (If applicable).
Work Schedule: 5-day work week, 12:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. Philippine time
Work Setup: Permanent WFH

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review individual (Form 1040) and business tax returns with a high level of accuracy and efficiency
  • Manage a high volume of tax returns while consistently meeting firm and regulatory deadlines
  • Review client-provided documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. tax regulations
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve basic to moderately complex tax issues and discrepancies
  • Prepare and review business tax returns, including supporting workpapers, trial balances, and book-to-tax adjustments
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal team members to resolve questions or issues as needed
  • Manage client correspondence and assist in addressing tax notices from various agencies (e.g., IRS, FTB), as required
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of client information and adherence to firm policies, procedures, and compliance standards
  • Maintain well-organized documentation to support all prepared and reviewed returns

Advanced Tax Knowledge & Experience

In addition to handling a high volume of returns, this role requires strong working knowledge of more advanced and nuanced areas of U.S. tax preparation, with the ability to independently handle and understand the following:

  • Distinction between short-term and long-term rental activities, including Airbnb and similar platform reporting
  • K-1s and proper flow-through treatment for individual and business returns
  • State and local tax (SALT) considerations, including multi-state filings and income apportionment
  • Stock-based compensation reporting for employees (e.g., ISOs, NSOs, RSUs) (highly desired)
  • Cost segregation concepts and their impact on depreciation and taxable income (highly desired)
  • Like-kind exchanges (Section 1031) and related reporting requirements (highly desired)
  • Business tax preparation across diverse industries, including but not limited to:
    • Real Estate (realtors, property flippers, developers, construction)
    • Retail (online and brick-and-mortar)
    • Manufacturing
    • Technology companies
    • Professional services (medical practices, law firms, consultants, etc.)
    • Restaurants and hospitality

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on U.S. tax preparation experience
  • Strong proficiency in preparing individual income tax returns (Form 1040) required
  • Experience preparing business tax returns (e.g., Forms 1065, 1120, 1120S) preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and consistently deliver accurate, timely work
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proven reliability, responsiveness, and consistent availability, particularly during peak tax season
  • Comfortable performing in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Familiarity with tax software such as UltraTax CS and QuickBooks Online (QBO)

Role Expectations & Level of Autonomy

This role is designed for a senior-level tax professional who can step in and perform at a high level immediately. At this time, the firm is not seeking to train or upskill candidates. The ideal candidate brings a depth of experience reflecting consistent accuracy, efficiency, and sound judgment developed through significant repetition and review across a large volume of returns.

While preparing returns independently is standard in most firms, all returns are still subject to review prior to delivery. The level of autonomy expected for this role assumes many years of exposure, multiple review cycles, and proven performance across both individual and business tax engagements.
