About the job 2 Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Deputy Lead)
Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Deputy Lead)
Company Overview
It is a US-based health-tech company building a unified, multi-tenant SaaS platform for clinics, telehealth, and pharmacy commerce. The platform brings onboarding, ordering, prescriptions, pricing, payments, and fulfillment into one system, featuring white-label storefronts that let partner clinics sell under their own brand. Built to a strict HIPAA standard, the current technical stack consists of Node.js/Express, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS, with a React Native mobile app on the upcoming roadmap. The engineering department operates as a small, senior, AI-augmented team utilizing modern AI tooling heavily, hiring specifically for high judgment, deep ownership, and the strategic ability to direct and review AI-generated code.
Mission
We are hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to serve as the technical anchor and deputy lead, reporting directly to the CTO. In this role, you will be the most senior engineer after the CTO, owning architecture and delivery across the web platform, setting the quality bar, and keeping the team moving forward efficiently. As an AI-augmented developer, you will utilize advanced tools to direct and review code rather than relying on raw output, owning real surface area across core product features. Additionally, you will step up to unblock the team, lead code reviews, manage production infrastructure, and eventually spearhead the build of our mobile application when it kicks off.
You will own real, money-moving parts of the platform end to end: payments and refunds, pricing, multi-tenant clinic set-up, pharmacy and shipping integrations, and our public API. You will turn unclear business requests into a clear technical plan, build it with care, and stand behind it in production. You report to the CTO, review your peers' code, and help the team move faster and more safely.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily tasks will vary, giving you room to learn, grow, and strengthen your skills while supporting the team with excellence.
- Own technical architecture and engineering decisions across the entire Node/Express, React, and PostgreSQL platform deployed on AWS.
- Design and build backend features across a multi-tenant platform: payments, refunds, pricing rules, discount codes, order routing, multi-tenant white-label storefronts, clinic administration, and third-party provider/fulfillment integrations.
- Build and harden integrations with outside providers (payment processors, pharmacies, shipping, CRM). Plan for timeouts, retries, duplicates, partial failures and webhooks that arrive twice or out of order.
- Protect data integrity in a large PostgreSQL schema through migrations, constraints, transactions, row-level security and query performance.
- Investigate production issues from logs, traces and metrics, fix the cause rather than the symptom, and write the test that stops it coming back.
- Write plans and short design notes before building, and give honest estimates. Push back when something isn't worth building.
- Review code, including AI-generated code, for correctness, security and tenant isolation, and help other developers through code review and pairing.
- Contribute to the React admin and clinic portals where your features need a UI.
- Act as the direct deputy to the CTO, running day-to-day delivery, managing code reviews, and unblocking the engineering team.
- Manage and maintain production infrastructure part-time, overseeing AWS environments, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring systems, and our overall HIPAA security posture with support from a security consultant.
- Lead the development and build of the React Native mobile application when the project launches.
- Direct, audit, and review AI-generated code (utilizing modern AI development tools) to maintain strict quality, optimization, and security standards.
Qualifications
- Years of Experience: 5+ years of professional full-stack/backend engineering experience.

If TypeScript isn't your main language, you're comfortable becoming productive in it within a few weeks. NestJS experience is a plus. Node.js, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS ecosystems, CI/CD pipeline tools, and modern AI-augmented engineering tools.
- CRM Tool: Not required.
- AI-assisted Engineering: You already use tools like Claude Code, Codex or Cursor in daily work, and you can show how you check/audit their output.
- Strongly Preferred: Fintech, wallets, payments or other regulated domains; healthcare or HIPAA experience; mentoring other developers.
- Must Have Done in Production / Industry Knowledge Required:
- Specific Gender: No preference.
- Multi-tenant SaaS architectures, complex payment gateways/systems, schema design, and database migrations on large tables.
- High-level production experience with AWS infrastructure deployment.
- Third-party API integrations with retries and idempotency.
