PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To use the most efficient and economical measures by planning, organizing, systemizing, reporting and coordinating of the maintenance and services on all equipment and vehicles of Rent-a-Drum and all other sister companies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Repairs & Maintenance

  • Repairs and maintenance on all vehicles: (RAD & Sister Companies)
  • Assist with regular services on trucks/vehicles and to see that it is being carried out accordingly.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are roadworthy at the same time while busy with such a service on a particle truck/vehicle/part.
  • Assist Mechanics with repairs and maintenance so that it is done properly and as soon as possible.
  • Ensure that preventative checks are made on a daily basis or as instructed by immediate supervisor or workshop manager in order to avoid any future unnecessary breakdowns/ damage to any part of a truck/vehicle/equipment.
  • Ensure that all machines, tools and equipment is in a good working order at all times
  • Ensure any brakes are being reported, repaired/replaced as soon as possible.

Job Cards

  • Ensure that any service parts/equipment needed for such a service/repair are reported to the mechanic so that it can be ordered immediately.
  • Ensure that the Job Card is being completed, outstanding issues/parts be reported in writing and signed off.
  • Ensure that the completed Job Card is handed in immediately to the immediate supervisor if not reachable the Workshop Manager to be checked/ in case of uncompleted tasks to take action/ to file when fully completed.

Standby duty

  • Ensure that you are always available/reachable in the event of any after hour Breakdown when on standby. If not possible for a specific period of time, arrange then with the Immediate supervisor or if not available/reachable the Workshop Manager in order for him to make alternative arrangements.
  • Ensure that you are on duty every second weekend/ Saturday with efficient workshop staff in order to conduct the following:
  • Preventative maintenance to all trucks/vehicles being parked on the premises.
  • Necessary/emergency repairs to be done immediately and to be recorded on a Temporary Job Card and to be discussed first thing Monday morning with the Immediate supervisor if not reachable the Workshop Manager.

General

  • Ensure that you do report any deviances/short comings/dissatisfaction towards the execution of your daily tasks to your immediate Supervisor.
  • If no satisfaction can be reached with your immediate supervisor, then report it to the Workshop Manager immediately.
  • Any ADHOC work-related tasks assigned by MANCO members. Instructions will come from Workshop Manager.
  • Ensure that the correct equipment is available and in a working condition to do the job.
  • Ensure proper control over all equipment being issues for a specific task and to be returned after completion of a task/job.

Reporting and Safety

  • Report process problems immediately to Supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment while complying with company safety policies.
  • Ensure PPE equipment is utilized.
  • Observe safe work practices.
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record and an excellent safety and work quality record.

QUALIFICATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12
  • Mechanic trade studies will be an advantage
  • Hydraulic and auto electric experience will be an advantage
  • At least 1 year experience in the maintenance of light and heavy machinery and mechanical equipment.
