PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB (SUMMARY)

The Site Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the site, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with all legal and company standards. The role includes supervising teams, ensuring effective use of resources, and overseeing operational activities to achieve the best possible outcomes in productivity, safety, and quality.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum 1 year plus experience in Waste Management or General Environmental Management. 
  • Diploma/ B-Tech/ Bachelor's Degree Waste Management/ Environmental Health Science/ Management or Public Health/ Engineering or related field, minimum NQF level 6.
  • Experience in ISO and NOSA or related SHE performance standard as an advantage.
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Technical experience will be an advantage
  • Valid driver's license

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 

OPERATIONS

- Supervise the performance of day-to-day operational activities, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Prepare work rosters and allocate employees to their tasks daily, ensuring optimal use of resources.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks to ensure all team members are aware of their tasks and responsibilities.

COMPLIANCE & SAFETY

- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including managing safety protocols on-site.
- Oversee safety inspections, manage risk assessments, and implement improvements as needed.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure all staff adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.

-Regularly liaise with site safety officer to ensure compliance and assist the site safety officer when he requires assistance.

RECOURSE & FLEET

- Forecast and schedule resource requirements, including staff, equipment, and materials for future workload.

- Oversee fleet operations to ensure vehicles are maintained and efficiently used.

- Monitor via scheduled checks and manage fleet maintenance costs and ensure the efficient performance of site vehicles.

LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT

- Lead and mentor a team of site workers, ensuring performance standards are met.

- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and manage any performance issues.

- Develop and maintain good relationships with team members, promoting a positive work environment.

COMMUNICATION & REPRTING

- Prepare and submit regular reports on site performance, safety incidents, and operational challenges.

- Work with other stakeholders to achieve operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

- Liaise with senior management to provide updates on operational progress and address issues as they arise.
