PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB (SUMMARY)

Maintenance and services of all vehicles and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Grade 12

Drivers license required

Heavy duty (CE or C1) will be an advantage

Qualified petrol and diesel mechanic level 3

Hydraulic and auto electric experience OR qualification

At least 3 - 5 years working experience

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Maintenance, services and repairs at the Recycling Plant (RRP).
  • Maintenance, services and repairs on vehicles/trailers and equipment.
  • Maintenance and repair at Rent-a-Drum premises.
  • Supervise workshop assistants.
  • Standby every second week. (Monday to Monday)

    DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASKS

    Maintenance, services and repairs at Recycling Plant (RRP).

    • Do daily checks on RRP and Equipment.
    • Do weekly afterhours maintenance 2x per week on RRP.(Tuesdays and Thursdays 16:00 to 19:00)
    • Check Dust control system on weekly basis.
    • Clean Dust control system nozzles once per month.
    • Do repairs on Dust control system when necessary.
    • Go out on breakdowns on the RRP during your standby week.

    Maintenance, service and repairs on vehicles/trailers and equipment.

    Assist the Workshop Mechanic with maintenance, services and repairs on vehicles/trailers and equipment.

    Go out on breakdowns on vehicles/trailers and equipment when requested.

    Maintenance and repair at Rent-a-Drum premises.

    Do maintenance on all equipment at the office when requested.

    Do repairs on all equipment at the office when requested.

    • Supervise Workshop assistants.

      Responsible for the Workshop assistants, in terms of their daily tasks/immediate supervision and performance.

      Check and do quality control if job/task is done properly when give to one/both the assistants.

      Ensure proper control over all equipment being issued for a specific task and to be returned after completion of a task/job.

      Proper supervision of the Workshop staff and their responsibility towards the Workshop, correctness of the work to be carried out, condition an correctness of tools and cleaning-ness of the Workshop and of all equipment

      Standby every second week (Monday to Monday)

        Ensure that you are always available/reachable in the event of any after hour

        Breakdown. If not possible for a specific period of time, arrange then with the Technical Supervisor in order for him to make alternative arrangements.

          Ensure that you are on duty every second weekend/ Saturday with efficient Workshop staff in order to conduct the following:

            Preventative maintenance to all trucks/vehicles being parked in the yard

            Necessary/emergency repairs to be done immediately and to be recorded on a Temporary Job Card and to be discussed first thing Monday morning with the Technical Supervisor.
