Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-focused Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is essential to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting smooth cash flow, and delivering high-quality service to our Australian client. The ideal candidate is experienced in reconciliations, invoice management, and Xero accounting software and is committed to upholding the highest standards of financial accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and any discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Reconcile credit card statements and maintain clear, up-to-date records to support financial transparency.
- Prepare reconciliation summaries and provide supporting documentation for internal reviews and audits.
Bank & Credit Reconciliation
- Accurately process supplier invoices, staff reimbursements, and other payables, ensuring all payments are authorized and scheduled within agreed terms.
- Monitor outstanding balances, follow up on delayed approvals, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure proper coding, classification, and filing of all payables documentation in accordance with company policies
Invoice Processing & Accounts Payable
- Maintain financial records within Xero, including data entry, updates, and reconciliations.
- Generate regular financial reports and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Address and troubleshoot system-related issues, escalating to Xero support when necessary.
Xero Accounting Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for the Australian client, providing updates, clarifying requirements, and ensuring expectations are consistently met.
- Prepare financial documentation that aligns with Australian accounting standards and compliance obligations.
- Stay current on relevant Australian tax regulations and incorporate updates into daily processes.
Client Support (Australian Accounting)
- Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all financial transactions, ledgers, and journals.
- Assist external accountants and auditors with documentation requests and financial analysis.
- Ensure all financial entries are supported by accurate records and proper approvals.
Financial Recordkeeping & Reporting
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, or a similar finance role
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software
- Solid understanding of bank reconciliations, accounts payable processes, and general bookkeeping principles
- Experience working with Australian clients or familiarity with Australian accounting standards is highly desirable
- High level of accuracy, reliability, and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
