Position Summary:

As a Draftsperson, you will play a vital role in preparing accurate and buildable technical drawings that support the delivery of modular and site-based construction projects across regional and remote areas. Your work will directly impact the successful execution of accommodation camps, educational facilities, community infrastructure, and other modular builds by ensuring construction documents are precise, compliant, and tailored to field conditions.

Working closely with project managers, engineers, and estimators, you will translate project concepts into clear construction plans, integrating modular unit specifications, foundation layouts, and service connections. Your attention to detail and practical design sense will support the clients reputation for delivering projects safely, efficiently, and on timeeven in Australias most challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, update, and manage detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD and Revit for modular buildings, site layouts, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Interpret architectural, engineering, and modular design specifications to produce accurate construction-ready drawings.
  • Collaborate with estimators and project managers to ensure alignment between drawings and quantity take-offs or scopes of work.
  • Adjust designs based on field conditions, client changes, or manufacturing constraints while ensuring buildability and code compliance.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with local building codes, disability access standards, WHS guidelines, and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate with modular building manufacturers to integrate prefabricated module details into overall site layouts and service plans.
  • Provide drawing clarification and support to on-site construction teams, including revisions or issue resolution during project execution.
  • Maintain organized records of drawing versions, revisions, and documentation throughout each project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to early contractor involvement (ECI) processes by supporting design development and constructability reviews.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in construction drafting, preferably within modular, residential, or commercial building environments.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Familiarity with site layout and building services coordination.
  • Strong understanding of building construction, prefabricated systems, and structural design principles.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and practical technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with relevant Australian codes and standards, including BCA/NCC, WHS, and DDA compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple drawing packages concurrently.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with engineers, project managers, and suppliers.
