Job Summary
As a T3 System Engineer (General Microsoft + Linux), you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex on-premises and hybrid infrastructures built on Microsoft and Linux platforms. Your deep expertise across Windows Server, Active Directory, mainstream Linux distributions, virtualization, storage, networking, and automationcombined with advanced troubleshooting and strong problem-solvingwill ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our customers environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage highly available, scalable, and secure Microsoft and Linux server infrastructures based on business requirements.
- Architect, harden, and maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory (including Group Policy, DNS/DHCP), RHEL/AlmaLinux/Ubuntu servers, and associated services.
- Implement and support virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V), including clustering, vMotion/Live Migration, and resource optimization.
- Administer identity and directory services across hybrid scenarios (AD, LDAP, SSSD), and integrate with cloud identity (e.g., Azure AD / Entra ID) when required.
- Build and maintain automation and IaC via PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, and desired-state configurations to deliver consistent, repeatable deployments.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis across OS, directory, networking, storage, and performance layers; lead incident response on P1/P2 issues.
- Implement and operate monitoring, logging, and alerting to proactively detect and resolve issues.
- Plan, test, and execute patching and lifecycle management for Microsoft and Linux estates with minimal downtime.
- Configure and maintain enterprise backup/restore and DR, including routine DR exercises and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate on-prem systems with cloud services (e.g., Azure, M365) and third-party platforms, ensuring secure interoperability.
- Conduct regular security assessments (CIS benchmarks, vulnerability remediation, least-privilege), and maintain compliance with applicable frameworks.
- Create and maintain runbooks, HLD/LLD documentation, and contribute to knowledge sharing; mentor junior engineers and T1/T2 teams.
- Identify opportunities for cost, resilience, and performance optimization and recommend improvements aligned to best practices.
Information Security
- Comply with all organizational information security policies, procedures, and best practices, including proper handling of sensitive data, use of approved systems, and adherence to access control measures.
- Actively contribute to maintaining the organization's information security by participating in required training, reporting potential security incidents, and promoting a culture of security awareness in daily activities.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Diploma, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Extensive hands-on experience administering Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/AlmaLinux/Ubuntu) at scale in production.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory (GPO, DNS, DHCP, Sites & Services), identity federation fundamentals, and Linux authentication/authorization (PAM/SSSD).
- Proficiency with virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V) and storage (SAN/NAS, iSCSI, multipathing).
- Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewalls), PKI, and security hardening aligned to industry benchmarks.
- Experience with automation and scripting: PowerShell and Bash (plus Ansible or similar configuration management).
- Demonstrated capability with monitoring/observability and performance tuning across OS, hypervisor, and application layers.
- Experience with backup & disaster recovery tooling and practices, including restore testing and documentation.
- Familiarity with containers and orchestration (Docker, basic Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud and hybrid services (e.g., Azure/Entra ID, M365) is a plus.
- Relevant certifications strongly preferred (e.g., MCSE/MCSA, VMware VCP, Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE, CompTIA Linux+, Azure Administrator/Architect).
