Senior Database Administrator (Oracle & SQL Server)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team and support enterprise client environments. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing database systems while working closely with one or more client accounts.
This position is ideal for someone who is technically strong, client-focused, and comfortable working in dynamic, service-driven environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring stability, scalability, and security
- Perform advanced database administration tasks including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations
- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, tuning SQL queries, and improving configurations
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues including performance degradation, connectivity problems, and data corruption
- Implement and maintain database security measures including access control, encryption, and auditing
- Plan and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime
- Collaborate with development teams on database design, schema changes, and data migrations
- Conduct capacity planning and proactively address resource utilization trends
- Stay current with database technologies and recommend improvements to performance, security, and scalability
- Mentor junior DBAs and support knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for integration with applications and systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- French Speaker/ Native
- Extensive hands-on experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments
- Strong experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server
- Solid understanding of database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability
- Experience with:
- Oracle: Data Guard, RMAN, RAC, ASM
- SQL Server: Always On Availability Groups, replication, Query Store
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Scripting skills (SQL, PowerShell, or similar)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud) is an advantage
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (OEM, SQL Server Monitoring, etc.)
- Exposure to automation / Infrastructure as Code
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Relevant certifications (OCP, Microsoft certifications) are strongly preferred
- Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB is a plus
