Private Client Solicitor/Legal Executive
Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire

Overview
A highly regarded regional law firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive to join its busy and well-established team in Lincoln. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload of private client matters while contributing to the departments growth and maintaining the firms reputation for excellence.

The Role
The successful candidate will be confident, proactive, and well-organised, with proven expertise in private client work, including:

  • Drafting Wills, including those incorporating trusts for complex family situations

  • Inheritance Tax (IHT) and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) planning

  • Preparing and registering Powers of Attorney, EPAs and LPAs

  • Court of Protection matters

  • Administration of taxable and non-taxable estates

  • Identifying trust administration requirements

You will also work with the departments marketing initiatives to promote the firms reputation and build client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality service to existing clients

  • Work with partners and fee earners to develop new business

  • Contribute to departmental development and growth

  • Achieve fee income targets

  • Stay up to date with legislation and best practice in private client law

  • Manage billing and cash flow effectively

  • Carry out fee-earning work in line with quality and risk management procedures

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive

  • Experience across mainstream private client matters, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, mental capacity issues, tax planning, estate administration, and trusts

  • Strong organisational and caseload management skills

  • Knowledge of Money Laundering Regulations and Solicitors Account Rules

  • IT literate, including case management systems

  • Excellent communication, written, and numeracy skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive client issues and maintain high professional standards

Desirable

  • STEP qualification or willingness to work towards it

  • Experience with agricultural estates or high-net-worth clients

  • Supervisory experience

  • Marketing, business development, and public speaking skills

  • Existing client following
