My client is a well-respected engineering firm with a strong track record of delivering complex bridge and civil infrastructure projects across Hong Kong. Due to a growing project pipeline, they are now seeking a Bridge Design Engineer to join their Hong Kong team.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Bridge Design Engineer with at least 3 years of Hong Kong-based bridge design experience to work on a range of local infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be familiar with local design standards, codes of practice, and approval processes. This is a mid-level role offering technical responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to real, deliverable projects in Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out bridge design and analysis for Hong Kong projects, including highway bridges, footbridges, and viaducts
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, and reports in accordance with Hong Kong codes and regulations
• Liaise with relevant local authorities (e.g., Highways Department, HyD, CEDD) as required
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and contribute to project delivery from concept to detailed design
• Ensure all designs comply with local standards, including Structures Design Manual for Highways and Railways and relevant Eurocodes/Hong Kong amendments
• Support senior engineers in project coordination and site liaison when required

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of bridge design experience in Hong Kong
• Solid knowledge of Hong Kong design codes, regulations, and approval processes for bridge structures
• Familiarity with Structures Design Manual for Highways and Railways (SDM) and relevant Hong Kong practice notes
• Proficiency in bridge design software (e.g., SAP2000, Midas Civil, or similar)
• Good communication skills in English (Cantonese or Mandarin is a plus)

Desirable (but not essential)

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (HKIE, ICE, or IStructE)
• Experience with detailed design of prestressed concrete, steel, or composite bridges
• Knowledge of BIM or 3D design tools
