Overview
A leading regional law firm with offices across Lincolnshire and the Midlands is seeking a confident, proactive, and structured Private Client professional to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a broad range of private client matters while contributing to the development of the department.

The Role
The successful candidate will be experienced in a variety of private client matters, including:

  • Drafting Wills, including those utilising trusts for complex family situations

  • Inheritance Tax (IHT) and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) planning

  • Preparation and registration of Powers of Attorney (EPAs and LPAs)

  • Court of Protection practice

  • Administration of taxable and non-taxable estates

  • Identifying trust administration requirements

The role also involves supporting the departments Marketing Policy to promote and enhance the firms reputation and business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing service to existing clients

  • Work with Partners and other Fee Earners to develop new business

  • Develop and enhance the Private Client department

  • Produce fee income in line with targets and agreed objectives

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant law and practice

  • Maintain and enhance professional legal skills

  • Manage financial control, including billing and cash flow on client matters

  • Perform fee-earning work accurately and reliably in accordance with the firms quality and risk procedures

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience in all mainstream private client matters, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, mental capacity issues, Tax Planning, Estate Administration, and use of Trusts

  • Ability to manage own caseload confidently

  • Strong planning and organisational skills

  • Clear understanding of Money Laundering Regulations and Solicitors Account Rules

  • Excellent communication, written, and numeracy skills

  • Ability to create and nurture relationships with key clients

  • Proactive, positive, and professional approach

  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure

Desirable

  • STEP qualified or desire to qualify

  • Experience with agricultural estates or high-net-worth clients

  • Ability to supervise others

  • Knowledge of case management systems

  • Marketing and business development skills

  • Presentation and public speaking skills
