An exciting opportunity to join the Revenue Control team of a leading London law firm. The Legal Biller will be working closely with Fee Earners and Partners and will be vital for ensuring end-to-end efficiency of the billing process. The firm is offering a competitive salary of up to £50,000 per annum, and a flexible hybrid working policy with 3 days in the office per week after the initial four weeks of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the billing processes and work closely with the rest of the revenue team to manage the end-to-end billing process.
  • Attending monthly WIP meetings and following up on assigned actions.
  • Creating and distributing reports.
  • Reviewing and posting invoices in line with internal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Generating and issuing proformas in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Editing proformas based on provided instructions.
  • Distributing invoices to internal and external contacts.
  • Drafting tailored invoice narratives.
  • Managing designated tasks and responding to queries via the Finance Inbox.
  • Processing credit notes per internal procedures, along with handling WIP, disbursement transfers, and write-offs.
  • Administering bespoke invoicing arrangements.
  • Handling complex billing matters, including composite invoicing.
  • Maintaining accurate billing-related data in client and matter records (e.g. fee estimates, billing addresses, specific invoicing instructions), securing Compliance team approvals when necessary.
  • Maintain consistent delivery of tasks, ensuring all deadlines are met through strong prioritisation, time management, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Drive process improvements by identifying inefficiencies, proposing actionable changes, and playing a hands-on role in implementation to boost team performance.
  • Apply awareness of AML regulations throughout all relevant billing operations.
  • Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders including the revenue team, Fee Earners, Executive Assistants, and Legal Secretaries to ensure billing is executed smoothly.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience using Elite 3E, ideally in a recent role.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role within a law firm or another professional services firm.
  • E-billing experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of HMRC and SRA rules.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to liaise with, and present to, senior partners and fee earners.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in use of the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
