Overview
A highly regarded regional law firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join its busy and well-established team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload of private client matters while contributing to the departments growth and the firms continued reputation for excellence.

The Role
The successful candidate will be confident, proactive, and well-organised, with proven expertise in a broad range of private client work, including:

  • Drafting Wills, including those incorporating trusts for complex family arrangements

  • Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax planning

  • Preparing and registering Powers of Attorney, EPAs and LPAs

  • Court of Protection matters

  • Administration of taxable and non-taxable estates

  • Advising on and identifying trust administration requirements

You will also contribute to departmental marketing initiatives, supporting the firms profile within the community and building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an ongoing, high-quality service to existing clients

  • Collaborate with partners and fee earners to develop new business

  • Contribute to departmental growth and client development

  • Meet agreed fee income targets

  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation and best practice

  • Maintain strong financial control, including billing and cash flow management

  • Carry out fee-earning work in accordance with quality and risk management procedures

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive

  • Significant experience in private client law, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, estate administration, tax planning, and trusts

  • Strong organisational and caseload management skills

  • Excellent understanding of Money Laundering Regulations and Solicitors Account Rules

  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and clients with mental capacity issues

  • IT literate, including experience with case management systems

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable

  • STEP qualification or willingness to work towards it

  • Experience with agricultural estates and/or high-net-worth clients

  • Supervisory experience

  • Marketing, business development, and public speaking skills

  • Existing client following
