39 hours per week (7-day rota, including weekends, sleep-ins, and night shifts as rostered)

With a new residential service in Letteragh, Galway, we are seeking a qualified and dedicated Social Care Worker to join a passionate team and make a genuine difference in the lives of the people they support.
The Role
The Social Care Worker will provide residential and respite care within a staff team for children and adults with an intellectual disability, working in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines. You will play a vital role in promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion, while ensuring the highest standards of care and safety for every individual you support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality residential and respite care, supporting daily living, personal care, and household routines.
- Act as key worker, developing and implementing individualised care plans tailored to each person's aspirations and needs.
- Work positively with individuals who present with behaviours that challenge, contributing to the planning and delivery of specific support programmes.
- Administer, supervise, and accurately record prescribed medication in line with policy.
- Teach and develop independence skills including self-help, domestic, community, leisure, and social skills.
- Foster meaningful relationships with individuals, their families, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Facilitate community-based activities and promote social inclusion and integration.
- Provide guidance and direction to Care Assistants as required, and act as Person in Charge in the absence of the Service Manager.
- Maintain accurate records and reports as required for the efficient running of the service.
- Undertake driving duties in service vehicles or own transport as required.
- Work a flexible shift rota spread over 7 days, including weekends, sleep-in duties, and night duty as rostered.
Essential Requirements
- A professional degree (minimum Level 7) in Applied Social Studies or a relevant qualification.
- CORU registration as a Social Care Worker, or registration actively in progress.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or in a similar care setting.
- Full, current driving licence with access to your own vehicle.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic with a genuine commitment to person-centred care.
- An ability to advocate effectively on behalf of the people you support.
