About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the end-to-end delivery of large-scale data center projects across Malaysia and Thailand. This strategic role will oversee planning, construction, commissioning, and handover of hyperscale/colocation facilities while ensuring alignment with business objectives, safety standards, and sustainability goals.
As the regional leader, you will manage cross-functional teams, external vendors, and stakeholder relationships to drive on-time, on-budget execution in a fast-growing market.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the regional data center delivery strategy in alignment with APAC growth targets.
- Lead feasibility studies, and capex planning for new and expansion projects.
Project Management
- Oversee all phases of data center development (design, construction, MEPF, commissioning, migration).
- Ensure compliance with local regulations (e.g., Malaysia’s MDA guidelines, Thailand’s ETDA requirements).
- Implement risk management frameworks to mitigate delays, cost overruns, and quality issues.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Serve as primary liaison for clients, government agencies, utilities providers, and contractors.
- Manage EPC firms, consultants, and equipment vendors to meet SLAs and performance metrics.
Financial & Operational Excellence
- Control project budgets, tracking CAPEX/OPEX against forecasts.
- Drive innovation in construction methodologies (e.g., modular builds, renewable energy integration).
Team Leadership
- Build and mentor a high-performing team of project managers, engineers, and site supervisors.
- Foster a culture of safety (zero-incident targets) and sustainability.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in data center/critical facility project management, with 3+ years in a director-level role.
- Proven track record of delivering data centers in APAC (Malaysia/Thailand experience preferred).
- Expertise in MEPF systems, BMS, and hyperscale construction methodologies.
- Strong negotiation skills with contractors and government bodies.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to C-suite and investors.
- Fluency in English and Chinese.
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical), or related field.
