The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all Palms restaurants and hospitality outlets in Singapore. While currently primarily based at Changi Airport, expansion plans are underway with some exciting new brands to come. Reporting to the Managing Director of the Food Group business, this role has P&L and operational accountability, ensuring that sales and revenue targets are met. He/she will also ensure that service standards exceed customer expectations, by achieving the highest levels of professionalism, trustworthiness, sincerity, attitude, and standards of appearance and cleanliness in the stores are met. The General Manager will also be responsible for driving and implementing the new brands and franchises.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the smooth operation of all Palms Foods stores and franchises
  • Driving sales growth and operational efficiency, alongside the Operations Manager (whom reports into this role)
  • Developing marketing campaigns to increase store foot traffic and sales, whilst adhering to the standards and expectations of food stores operating within Changi Airport, Singapore
  • Business development, including negotiation with F&B licensing organizations to potentially expand new outlets both within and outside of Changi Airport
  • Ensure all restaurants operate at a high quality level with emphasis on customer service while adhering to company and franchise standards and procedures
  • Ensure execution of operating standards that optimize returns on assets and increases sales and improves profits.
  • Take appropriate employment actions to ensure quality of management and proper staffing levels.
  • Provide input to supervisors and staff on marketing and promotion programs to maximize the impact to sales.
  • Lead the team to create, develop and update any related procedures/ systems.
  • Participate in key decision making with the management team.
  • Ensure crisis management system is followed as required to maintain efficient operations.
  • Ensure good public relations efforts as requires enhancing and preserving a good company image.
  • Utilize a communication process to ensure all staff are aware of expectations and performance standards.
  • Take the lead in promoting the restaurants and sales promotions through social media, working with the marketing team.
  • Develop and recommend operational plans and budgets, in addition to ensuring meeting established budgetary guidelines.
  • Analyze and report weekly on controllable, sales and profits to ensure accurate and timely financial tracking.
  • Recruiting and managing in-store staff

Background and Experience

  • 10 years+ experience within a general management capacity in running both independent and franchised F&B outlets. Experience running multiple F&B outlets within an airport would be desirable
  • 5 years+ experience hands-on experience in running multiple stores, with a proven track record of successful expansion through business development
  • Bachelors degree in Hospitality or Business Administration
  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin languages
  • Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders, including operational staff and F&B licensing bodies
