A Sales Manager is responsible for leading and managing the sales operations of an automotive dealership or vehicle distribution business. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, maximizing profitability, ensuring excellent customer service, and leading the sales team to deliver strong business performance. A Vehicle Sales Manager oversees sales planning, customer relationship management, inventory coordination, and staff development while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Key responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Target Achievement
- Revenue & Volume Goals: Develop and execute comprehensive annual, quarterly, and monthly sales strategies to achieve unit sales targets and revenue quotas set by upper management or the regional brand principal.
- Pricing & Discounting Control: Oversee pricing structures, vehicle grading, promotional packages, trade-in valuations, and corporate discounts while maintaining healthy profit margins.
- Market Analysis: Monitor local automotive trends, competitor pricing, new model launches, and consumer purchasing shifts.
2. Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Sales Team Coaching: Lead, mentor, and supervise showroom sales consultants, team leaders, and corporate sales executives.
- Training & Development: Conduct regular training sessions on product knowledge, objection handling, financing options, and effective closing techniques.
- KPI Tracking: Set individual and team KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews.
3. Lead Generation & Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Pipeline Oversight: Ensure the sales team actively manages and updates the CRM system with incoming leads from digital campaigns, walk-ins, phone inquiries, and auto show events.
- Corporate & Fleet Sales: Spearhead B2B sales efforts by pitching vehicle fleet packages to corporate entities, government agencies, NGOs, and rental car companies in Cambodia.
- VIP Customer Relations: Maintain direct relationships with high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and VIP clients, stepping in to handle high-level negotiations or escalations.
4. Showroom & Marketing Coordination
- Showroom Presentation: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure the showroom floor, vehicle displays, and test-drive are pristine and properly stocked with sales collateral (brochures, price lists, spec sheets).
- Promotional Events: Coordinate with the marketing department to plan and execute vehicle launch events, roadshows, test-drive carnivals, and exhibitions.
- Financing Partnerships: Build and maintain strong working relationships with local banks and microfinance institutions to streamline customer auto-loan approvals and financing options.
Background and experience
1. Education & Qualifications
- Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, International Business, or a related field.
- Driving License: A valid local driving license.
2. Experience
- Management Experience: 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in automotive sales management, retail leadership, or corporate B2B sales (with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-leading role).
- Track Record: Proven ability to consistently develop sales strategies, manage vehicle inventory pipelines, and meet or exceed aggressive monthly and annual sales quotas.
3. Technical & Market Knowledge
- Industry Insight: Deep familiarity with the local Cambodian automotive market, consumer preferences, competitor pricing, and emerging trends.
- Financial & Corporate Know-how: Good understanding of auto-financing structures, leasing options, bank/MFI collaborations, and corporate fleet purchasing procedures.
- Software Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience using CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software to monitor sales funnels.
4. Soft Skills & Langugaes
- People Management: Strong coaching, mentoring, and motivational skills to lead a team of showroom sales consultants and corporate account executives.
- Communication & Negotiation: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and high-level negotiation skills for closing major deals and resolving client escalations.
- Result-Oriented: A proactive, high-integrity, and customer-centric mindset with the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Professional fluency in both Khmer and English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Professional fluency in Korean/Chinese is an advantage
