About the job Assistant Project Manager
RRC (Ruiz Recruiting & Consulting) is a premier national search firm bridging the gap between top-tier talent and innovative organizations, from high-growth startups to the Fortune 500.
We are seeking a versatile Assistant Project Manager to lead specialized, high-velocity projects that bridge the gap between pre-construction strategy and field operations. This is a high-visibility role designed for a cost-conscious engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will manage a diverse portfolio of specialized infrastructure projects with rapid 90-to-120 day delivery cycles.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Con: Lead the bidding process, performing quantity take-offs and cost-engineering to ensure competitive and profitable wins.
Operational Execution: Transition seamlessly into the field to manage subcontractors, scheduling, and project logistics.
Specialized Scope: Oversee technical work including Class I Rail infrastructure, subsurface structural engineering, and industrial transit solutions.
P&L Accountability: Act as the bridge between the budget and the build, ensuring every project meets strict financial and safety milestones.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience: 3+ years in Heavy Civil, Industrial, or Heavy Highway construction.
The "Cost" Mindset: A strong background in Cost Engineering or Estimating is essential.
Technical Knowledge: Direct experience in Deep Foundations or Shoring systems is highly preferred, though we will train a high-performing engineer with strong civil fundamentals.
Drive: Someone who prefers variety and "fast wins"—managing multiple short-duration projects rather than one multi-year mega-project.
Why Join This Firm?
Stability & Scale: The backing of a major national parent company with a multi-billion dollar backlog.
Autonomy: A culture that empowers APMs to make decisions and run their projects like a business.
Elite Benefits: Best-in-class health coverage and a retirement package that leads the industry.
Growth: A proven track record of promoting from within—this role is a direct pipeline to Senior Project Management.
