Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Estimator to join our team in the roofing and cladding sector. This role involves leading the estimating function for complex and high-value projects across the commercial, industrial, and public sectors in Ireland & Europe. The successful candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage client relationships and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
· Take ownership of the tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission and post-tender negotiations.
· Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and client requirements to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates.
· Lead pricing strategies for major tenders, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market conditions.
· Liaise with key stakeholders including clients, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams to gather accurate and timely information.
· Attend pre-tender site visits, client briefings, and tender review meetings.
· Review and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations for scope compliance and value.
· Prepare and present tender documentation and bid summaries to senior management.
· Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to junior estimators within the team.
· Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, cost databases, and tendering systems.
· Monitor industry trends, material cost fluctuations, and supply chain developments to maintain competitive and profitable pricing.
Requirements:
· Minimum 7 years of experience in estimating roles within the construction industry, with at least 4 years in roofing and cladding.
· Strong technical knowledge of roofing systems, cladding materials, and installation practices in line with Irish construction standards and regulations.
· Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Buildsoft, Excel).
· Excellent attention to detail with strong commercial and contractual awareness.
· Effective communicator with strong negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
· Proven ability to manage multiple high-value tenders simultaneously under tight deadlines.
· Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits and meetings.
Desirable Qualifications:
· Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
· Chartered status or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., SCSI, RICS) is an advantage.
