Role Overview

The Commercial Director will be responsible for leading all Business Development, Sales, and Marketing activities across the three businesses. This senior leadership role requires a commercially astute individual with a deep understanding of the horticulture, landscaping, and maintenance industries, as well as proven success in driving revenue growth, managing complex sales pipelines, and leading high-performing sales and marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Growth
  • Define and implement a group-wide commercial strategy to achieve ambitious revenue and profitability targets.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across landscaping, garden design, plant supply, and maintenance services.
  • Build strategic partnerships with developers, contractors, designers, and corporate clients.
  • Sales Leadership
  • Manage, mentor, and grow the sales team across multiple businesses.
  • Oversee the full sales cycle, from lead generation to deal closure, ensuring pipelines are robust and well-managed.
  • Set and track sales targets, reporting regularly to the Board.
  • Marketing & Brand Development
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that strengthen brand presence and generate high-quality leads.
  • Oversee digital marketing, PR, campaigns, and client engagement initiatives.
  • Position the businesses as industry leaders through thought leadership, events, and customer success stories.
  • Commercial Strategy & Operations
  • Analyse market trends, customer insights, and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure service excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Develop pricing, contracts, and proposals that align with market expectations and drive profitability.

Key Requirements

  • Proven track record as a Commercial Director, Sales Director, or senior commercial leader within horticulture, landscaping, construction, maintenance, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, sales pipeline management, and revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multiple sales teams across different business units.
  • Solid grasp of B2B and B2C sales, with the ability to balance short-term wins and long-term strategic growth.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Commercially astute, data-driven, and results-oriented.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability.
