Area Sales Engineer – ROI Western Region


Our client are looking to speak with highly experienced candidates for the ew role of Area Sales Engineer.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record in sales both operationally and strategically. 

Organisational Level: The successful candidate will report directly to the Country Sales Manager for ROI.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have Electrical experience with a commercial or technical abilities to support the existing customers.

Languages: Fluency in English is an absolute prerequisite.

Experience: 

  • Proven and demonstrable track record of selling Variable Speed Drives- Minimum of five years experience in a comparable role.
  • Capable of working largely unsupervised from home, with technical, administrative and commercial support provided by the client team. 
  • Possess excellent levels of literacy and numeracy.
  • Professional familiarity with the Microsoft IT systems is essential.

2. Particular strengths in flexibility, organisational flair and negotiating skills, combined with a high level of readiness to achieve and to learn, as well as a mature ability to deal and react to ongoing business challenges.

4. Self-motivated and in possession of excellent communication skills.

Assignment: Area of responsibility will cover a broad spectrum, including the following key areas:

1. Develop sales of client products through a combination of (a) furthering relationships with existing customers and contacts, and (b) seeking out prospective new customers, establishing and developing relationships with these prospective customers.

2. Through the activities outlined in the first month of starting, broaden the Customer base in Ireland, especially those market segments that are not yet developed in Ireland.

3. Maintain and develop customer accounts once established to maximise turnover and margins, through regular visits and other contacts, and the provision of solutions for customers. 

4. Constantly increase technical knowledge base through the attendance of training events at client manufacturing facilities.

5. Attend appropriate exhibitions and seminars to further product knowledge and market knowledge.

6. Provide timely written feedback on customer visits (Monthly meeting).

7. Preparation of forecasts and budgets for the defined territory.

8. Technical and commercial advice for customers regarding the application, use and benefits with VSD products.

Start Date: Q1 2026

Location: The successful candidate will be based from their home office. Their sales area will be the Connaught region with connecting counties.
