Compensation: $117,000$140,000 annually, based on experience

Rural Staffing Services (RSS) is actively recruiting a dedicated Emergency Department Director for a mission-driven hospital in Southeast Alaska. This position is ideal for an experienced nurse leader seeking either a permanent opportunity or an interim role in one of the most naturally beautiful and culturally rich regions in the country.

Position Overview:
The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for overseeing all aspects of patient care and staff operations in the Emergency Department. This includes leadership of the hospital's Stroke Program, Trauma Program, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program.

The Director works collaboratively with program coordinators and hospital leadership to support optimal care delivery, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Department

  • Support staff development, training, and performance

  • Oversee departmental compliance with local, state, and federal healthcare regulations

  • Collaborate with coordinators of specialty programs on day-to-day operations and escalated concerns

  • Promote a culture of safety, compassion, and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Bachelors degree preferred; Masters degree a plus)

  • Active RN license in the State of Alaska (or ability to obtain)

  • Minimum of five (5) years of acute care nursing experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years in a management or supervisory role

  • Required certifications:

    • BLS, ACLS, PALS

    • TEAM/BERT within 90 days of hire

    • ENPC and TNCC within one year of hire
