Position: Head of Internal Communications

Location: Jersey

Salary: £100,000

We are seeking candidates with extensive prior experience within an internal communications role for a large, multi-jurisdictional, organisation. This role is responsible for stakeholder engagement, working with key leaders across the business and the exec board, and requires strong influencing skills and the ability to build relationships. Individuals will need to have a change mind-set, and the ability to consider the people side of change will also an important factor of the role. As always, the salary offered for this position will be in line with the individual's experience, and we anticipate a salary of up to £100k.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the internal communications strategy, implementation plan and related budget, providing strategic direction and leadership on the further development of the firm's internal communications and engagement strategy including periodic critical assessment of communications and engagement plan
  • Leading on change and engagement plans to contribute to the successful implementation of strategic priorities such as senior appointments/talent development, wellbeing, sustainability, D&I and other annual approved objectives
  • Lead on the operational follow up of the strategic activity, translating the objectives into messages and activities that are relevant at an office, departmental and individual level
  • Take ownership of all internal communication channels, and maximise engagement. Develop diverse communication channels, e.g. digital, virtual, intranet, social media, print, email etc. as the appropriate means for communicating with employees depending on the nature and context of different communications
  • Work with the Change Team to support new projects by providing specific and timely information and bring about change in an effective manner
  • Plan, edit and write engaging and effective content that achieves the intended objectives and influences change selecting the right internal communication channels to achieve the objective of the communication and engagement
  • Lead on the ongoing embedding of the 2025 vision ensuring continual reinforcement and innovative methods of employee engagement providing regular updates on key success factors / further actions required
  • Working directly with the Executive Board, proactively anticipate and produce appropriate internal communications to support key business priorities examples to include drafting Executive blogs, wellbeing / seasonal messages, celebrating successes, initiative launch communication

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Extensive experience of internal communications, preferably gained in a 1000+ employee organisation, operating a matrix structure across multi-jurisdictions and undergoing/managing a change agenda
  • Experience of working closely with senior colleagues at director level and strong experience of building networks and relationships to deliver results
  • Very strong communication skills, both verbal and written, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to influence and handle sensitive situations, maintaining confidentiality, where necessary
  • IT skills including use of social media (including Yammer), content management, Office products, email and image editing etc.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload and those of others effectively but also to be flexible and adapt/respond to emerging issues, short deadlines and other demands or challenges
