Job Title: Associate Director Compliance

Location: Jersey

Salary £100,000 + neg

Our client is recruiting for an Associate Director of Compliance, who will lead the Compliance department to support the Jersey business; Boards and operations, in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and provide on-going independent 2nd line oversight of Governance, internal systems, controls, policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of the local compliance function to deliver effective compliance support to the Jersey regulated businesses.
  • Compliance Officer for Jersey affiliation leader: (Jersey) Limited and for the fund services business: Fund Services Limited
  • Promote and enhance the legal & ethical integrity and compliance culture in the Jersey business, ensuring the behaviour of the organisation reflects the local regulations and codes of practice and the firms policies & procedures.
  • Direct support to the Boards on all compliance matters, including input on the formal Compliance and AML reports prepared by the relevant compliance officer(s) of the legal entities, to the Directors (quarterly Boards and ad-hoc meetings as required).
  • Act as the liaison point to the JFSC (unless the regulator wishes only to communicate with the regulated person) overseeing examination visits and regulatory interaction.
  • Work with senior management in the on-going development of the company's risk-based monitoring programme and internal operating procedures, make recommendations for improvements to ensure full compliance is achieved.
  • Recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management for the Jersey compliance team.

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • High degree of professional integrity
  • Previous experience dealing with regulators, senior executives and management.
  • Proven effective supervisory skills - flexible, creative, team-oriented and process-driven.
  • Confident and motivational with excellent communication skills.
  • Effective people management skills.
  • Track record of experience of best practice in compliance, risk & governance frameworks, methodologies and emerging practices in Jersey.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in Compliance, Risk, Legal or Audit.
  • Proven industry experience and a thorough knowledge of local regulations and legislation.

Education/ Memberships:

  • Relevant compliance qualification - ICA/ACAMS/CISI (JFSC - table 4 qualification).
  • ICA Diploma in AML/Compliance or other equivalent Compliance Certification.
  • Professional Qualification ACA, ACCA, ICSA or similar.
