We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Prospect Research Specialist to support strategic fundraising and business development efforts. In this role, you will identify, research, and evaluate prospective donors, partners, and stakeholders, providing actionable insights that inform engagement strategies and drive growth. This is a fully remote position ideal for a professional with strong research capabilities, data analysis skills, and a high level of discretion.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive research to identify and qualify prospective donors, sponsors, and partners
- Analyze wealth indicators, philanthropic history, and engagement data
- Develop detailed prospect profiles, briefings, and reports for leadership and fundraising teams
- Maintain and update prospect data within CRM systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Monitor and manage donor pipelines and prospect portfolios
- Collaborate with fundraising and donor relations teams to align research with outreach strategies
- Utilize public records, databases, and research tools to gather and verify information
- Support campaign planning by identifying high-potential segments and opportunities
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with ethical standards and data protection regulations
What We're Looking For
- 2–5+ years of experience in prospect research, data analysis, fundraising support, or a related field
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and research skills
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud, DonorPerfect)
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Google Sheets, or similar)
- Excellent written communication skills for preparing reports and briefings
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information
Nice to Have
- Experience in nonprofit development, fundraising operations, or donor analytics
- Familiarity with wealth screening tools and prospect research platforms
- Knowledge of donor segmentation and engagement strategies
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Bachelor's degree in Research, Data Analytics, Communications, or a related field
