The Data Platform Architect is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable data platforms that support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence across the organization. This role defines the architecture, standards, and best practices for data infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance, and security.

The Data Platform Architect works closely with data engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to create a unified and efficient data ecosystem in a fully remote environment.

This is a fully remote position; however, applicants must currently reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Applications from individuals residing outside the United States will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable data architectures, pipelines, and storage solutions
  • Define data platform strategy, standards, and governance frameworks
  • Lead the development of data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data processing systems
  • Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to support data access and usability
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate and select data technologies, tools, and platforms
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams
  • Support machine learning and advanced analytics infrastructure needs
  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 8–12+ years of experience in data engineering, platform architecture, or software engineering
  • Strong expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Apache Kafka
  • Experience designing data warehouses and data lakes
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database technologies
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and distributed systems
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance
  • Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure
  • Familiarity with modern data stack tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
  • Knowledge of DevOps and MLOps practices
  • Experience leading architecture design and cross-team initiatives
