An opportunity is available for a Service Area Assistant to join a busy and customer-focused butchery department at Summerset Waterstone. This is an entry-level position suited to a hardworking and enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and build experience within the retail and meat industry. No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

The Service Area Assistant will support the butchery team in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring that operational, hygiene, and food safety standards are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers at the butchery service counter in a friendly and professional manner

• Accurately weigh, package, and label meat products

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the service area and display counters

• Support butchery staff with daily operational tasks and basic preparation duties

• Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health regulations

• Restock display areas when required

• Work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment

• Maintain a clean uniform and professional appearance at all times

• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking

• Comfortable working in a cold environment
