Draughtsman (Mechanical – Manufacturing)

A well-established manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Mechanical Draughtsman to join their team.

This role focuses on preparing accurate technical drawings, supporting cost estimation, and working closely with engineering and production teams to deliver practical, manufacturable solutions.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent

• Drafting qualification

Experience

• 3–5 years experience as a Draughtsman

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Draughtsman in a manufacturing environment

• Experience in estimation, laser cutting, and sheet works

• Familiarity with ISO standards (advantageous)

• Proficient in AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Inventor

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate 2D & 3D technical drawings, layouts, and conceptual designs

• Develop detailed drawings for laser cutting, profiling, bending, welding, and assembly

• Interpret design requirements from engineers and project teams

• Produce detailed design drawings and manufacturing data packs (BOMs, data sheets, QC documentation)

• Support project estimation with material take-offs and cost calculations

• Process and manage Design Change Requests (DCRs)

• Revise drawings based on production/site feedback

• Coordinate with workshop and fabrication teams

• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and company procedures

• Manage drawing control, document registers, and revision systems

• Assist with component sourcing and testing support
