Project Manager – Mining Connectivity & Security Systems

Location: Irene, Pretoria
Salary: R45,000 – R65,000 per month (CTC)
Reporting to: Managing Director

Role Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of Wi-Fi infrastructure, people tracking systems, and security network implementations within mining environments.

The role requires both strong project management capability and a solid technical understanding of wireless networking and surveillance systems. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating in mine environments and working closely with on-site stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management & Delivery

• Manage full project lifecycle from initiation to handover

• Define scope, timelines, deliverables and milestones

• Develop project schedules and resource plans

• Track progress and manage risks

• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget

• Provide regular management reporting

2. Technical Oversight

• Oversee installation of:

  • Mine-wide Wi-Fi networks

  • Wireless mesh systems

  • Access control & people tracking systems

  • CCTV & IP camera networks

• Coordinate with technical teams and subcontractors

• Conduct site audits and system validation

• Ensure proper network performance and stability

3. Stakeholder & Site Coordination

• Conduct stakeholder requirement workshops

• Liaise with mine IT teams, security departments and operations

• Ensure compliance with site safety regulations

• Manage contractor coordination and site readiness

4. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain project documentation

• Compile technical and operational reports

• Ensure sign-offs and handover documentation are complete

Minimum Requirements

• 5–10 years experience in technical project environments

• Experience working within mining environments (essential)

• Strong understanding of wireless networking technologies

• Exposure to CCTV, access control or tracking systems

• Experience managing technical teams

• Strong stakeholder communication skills

• Valid drivers license

• Willingness to travel to mine sites

Preferred (Advantageous)

• CCNA / CCNP

• Wireless networking certifications

• PMP / PRINCE2

• Mining safety certification
